Description

We had to change hotels for 2017 because they are tearing down the hotel we have been at for the last five years. We managed to locate another hotel in our price range that like the last one is surrounded by restaurants (and right next t a mall), but we did have to move the convention up a few weeks.

Guests of honor are Ben Parker, Leyla Torres and Jason Ku. Come take over 70 origami classes - everyone is welcome, beginner to expert.

The hotel is the Marriott Columbus Northwest. This is a very nice hotel with about twice the meeting room space as the previous hotel. Room rates are a bit higher - our room block is at $115, but we will be launching a roommate finder in a few weeks to make it easy for people to match up.

Registration is online now at www.ohiopaperfolders.com. We have a very special early bird discount from now until the first of the year.
If you have never been to the Ohio origami Convention, you should give it a try. Have a great time with other folders both in formal classes and casual folding in the great room. This convention is in a small convention hotel with everything on one level, barrier free. Surrounded by restaurants and shops you do not even need a car.

Those of you in short driving distance who have never attended...Why not? There are only a handful of annual origami conventions in North America, and we run one right here in Columbus! People have come from 23 other countries to attend CenterFold!

For more info and photos of past conventions visit www.ohiopaperfolders.com

Bulk origami paper purchase:.As we did last year, we are allowing convention attendees to pre-order origami paper from our almost 600 item online shop, for delivery at the convention.

Of course, we do sell paper all year long - we have over 400 items available, so please give us a look!

Other activities: (Information on the website at www.ohiopaperfolders.com)
Exhibit:
We will again have a large origami exhibit, open to the public, so bring anything you want to display. Figure on up to six sq feet (3 linear feet of a table), except for those of you who bring a table full (you know who you are). Contact us with any questions. For photos pf past exhibits visit the web site.

Origami Artists Trading Cards:
What are Artist Trading Cards (ATC)? Historically they've been handmade sets of cards made by a group of artists who would trade amongst themselves and end up with new sets of cards with one card from each artist. So originally these creative cards did not involve origami. Jean Baden-Gillette and MaryAnn Scheblein-Dawson introduced ATCs with it to the OUSA convention in 2006. CenterFold has been doing ATC swaps for three years now.
Origami ATCs are the same size as baseball trading cards (2.5 x 3.5 inches or 64 x 89mm) and are required to have some actual origami as part of it. They should be able to fit in a trading card plastic sleeve, and that limits the overall thickness. For more information, google "origami artists trading cards".

Silent Auction:
We accept donations of any origami related materials (paper, books, tools, convention books etc.) and other art related materials for a silent auction to help raise funds for our group activities.

Origami Holiday Ornaments for Children's Hospital:
Our local group has been making origami holiday ornaments and donating them to the local nationwide Children's Hospital for years. Last year some convention attendees donated ornaments as well, with one attendee sending all the extra small pieces she had made over the year - over 100 pieces! We would like to ramp this up, and expand it to all six Children's Hospitals in Ohio.
So please feel free to bring ornaments to the convention, or mail them to us (Email us for mailing address if sending UPS, since they will not deliver to a P.O. Box).
ANY small (6" or smaller) well made models will do - last year we had modulars, Snapology, tesselations, traditional - you name it, there were some in that batch. Simple is fine, complex is fine - pretty much anything will be appreciated.
