Description

Convention dates are Fri Aug 10th to Sun Aug 12th 2018.

Guests of honor are Michael LaFosse, Richard Alexander, Shuki Kato and Maria Sinayskaya.

Maria Sinayskaya is an origami artist who is best known for her modular origami designs — kusudamas and stars. She draws on her background in mathematics to develop original origami models which are both stunning in appearance and highly geometric in nature. Maria has been a regular contributor to numerous origami publications and exhibitions around the world. Originally from Russia, she now lives in Durban, South Africa. Maria is the author of Zen Origami: 20 Modular Forms for Meditation and Calm

Shuki Kato first learned about origami from John Montroll's groundbreaking title "Origami for the Enthusiast" around 1997 and has been hooked on this hobby and art form ever since. Around 2008 he began diagramming his original work and was later fortunate enough to be noticed and recommended to contribute to a new book "Origami Masters: Bugs" which turned out to be an important milestone in his career. Since then he has published an intermediate-difficulty origami buildings book "Origami City" coauthored by Australian Origami artist Jordan Langerak and in late 2017 he released "Origami Nature Study" which is features diagrams for some of the most complex origami animals ever published.

Michael LaFosse and Richard Alexander: What is there to say about these two incredible origami artists and teachers? Michael and Richard have designed hundreds of models from simple to incredibly complex. They are authors of many books and DVDs. They run the best known origami studio in the country and have taught thousands of people of all ages and skill levels.
They were our guests in 2012 and along with Bernie Peyton taught more classes than any other guests before or since. They are fantastic people and amazing teachers. This is their passion and it shows.

The hotel is the Marriott Columbus Northwest. We will send out the registration link for our room block shortly.

If you have never been to the Ohio origami Convention, you should give it a try. Have a great time with other folders both in formal classes and casual folding in the great room. This convention is in a small convention hotel with everything on one level, barrier free. Surrounded by restaurants and shops you do not even need a car.

Those of you in short driving distance who have never attended...Why not? There are only a handful of annual origami conventions in North America, and we run one right here in Columbus! People have come from 23 other countries to attend CenterFold!
