Family Fun - Waterbomb Based Models

Kathy will teach a variety of easy models all starting from the Waterbomb Base. The traditional waterbomb is a 3-dimensional model that can be shaped into rounded models such as a bunny, and an ornament. This class is the perfect introduction to paperfolding and a great opportunity for families to explore the magic of origami together. No experience is necessary. For children ages 8 and up. Adults without children are also welcome!

She has come up with a way to understand the basics and will teach how to expand your model from the center piece in a logical and easy manner. Don’t put away those shovels just yet. It’s been a tough winter but that’s no reason not to enjoy the snow for a little longer. Heidi will teach you this gorgeous 3-D snowflake by Toshikazu Kawasaki. And since no two snowflakes are alike, she may just show you a couple of variations. Precision folding of the hexagon grid is strongly encouraged.

What better way to welcome Spring than with flowers? Flower-shaped bowls of course! Donna has gathered together a bunch of bowls that are sure to delight. There is the modular cherry blossom bowl where each of the 5 petals is a little bowl/dish. There is the tulip shaped bowl from a square. There is even a five petaled flower bowl out of a pentagon. Get your snacks and knickknacks ready!

Flying Fish and Mono Plane

Let Wesley gently guide you through the precreases and folding that finally lead to a very satisfying collapse into a beautiful star with a flowery center. Fantastic when folded out of foil or harmony paper, it makes an arresting addition to your holiday décor. More models as time permits.

An unpublished Fuse model?!? Sign me up!!! This ingenious modular box has made its informal way across the world through the greater origami community, from Japan to South America to New Mexico and finally to New York. Rachel will teach this neat box that features a square opening in the box top. Hmm, what’s the best use for that opening? Paperclips perhaps.

30 Piece Sonobe

A modular, a decoration, a puzzle, all in one! How do you put a 30-piece modular together so that no two pieces touching are the same color? That’s the focus of this marvelous class. Nathan will show you how to fold and assemble this classic modular of Sonobe units with particular attention on how to put the pieces together in a 5-color weave.

David Brill's Masu Box

Traditionally, the masu box was a unit measure for rice, then it was used to drink sake, and finally it became a traditional origami box. This class takes us back to its roots and reproduces that iconic wooden box in paper! Louise will carefully take you through David Brill’s brilliant model that is folded from A4 size paper. She also has some tricks and hacks that will make this challenging fold somewhat easier.
