If you would like to teach at PCOC, please complete one of the forms below. The success of PCOC depends upon the contributions of volunteers like you, so please sign up to teach!

On Saturday and Sunday the classes feature specific models, and the sessions can be 45 minutes (1 period), 1 hour and 45 minutes (2 periods) or 2 hours and 45 minutes (3 periods). Remember that we must have the creators' permission to teach their designs and that diagrams may be distributed only with permission from the diagrammer and creator.

On Friday, you have the option to teach a seminar, which is a session not specifically related to constructing an origami model. Past seminars have included subjects such as gift wrapping, different types of paper, decorating paper and understanding crease patterns. Friday classes are scheduled for either 2 periods (morning or afternoon) or 3 periods (afternoon only).

If you have any questions or qualms, please write to us at pcoc-teaching [at] origamiusa.org.

Register to Teach a Class

Please note: if you sign up for teaching, you must also register for PCOC, even if you are not taking classes.

Teaching forms must be entered by one week before the start of the convention – i.e., by Thursday evening, 10/1. The teaching registration form will be closed at that time.

The preliminary schedule will be uploaded the next day, preceded by an e-mail announcement. After that time, modifications to the schedule will be made only to correct any errors and, if possible, to accommodate any special requests for changes in time or location.

Following this procedure will enable us to plan the class schedule carefully and accurately and to prepare all related materials necessary for the convention in a timely and orderly way.

  • Online registration for teaching at PCOC is now closed.

We apologize for the early shutdown of the Saturday/Sunday teaching form. Due to the unexpectedly high volume of class submissions and the very limited availability of classroom space at the Millennium, all the classroom space has been filled.

Priority Ticketing

If you teach at PCOC, you may be eligible for priority ticketing. The eligibility rules are:

  • You have registered to attend convention by September 15th and have signed up to teach by October 1st.
  • Your model for display on the Model Menu is received in the Hospitality Room no later than 5 pm on Friday afternoon.
  • You must be teaching during a day for which you have signed up to attend with classes.
  • If you teach one period of class time, you are eligible for priority ticketing during that day.
  • If you teach two periods of class time, you are eligible for priority ticketing for all days on which you have signed up to attend with classes.

Please check the Priority Ticketing page for further information.

Class Previews

When you register to teach a class, a description of your class will immediately appear on the class preview web pages. Within the teaching registration form you will have the option to upload a photo of your model, which will be shown on the class preview web page. Uploading a photograph is optional. However, please do not delay telling us what you want to teach even if you don't have a photo. It can be added later if you attach it to an email addressed to pcoc-teaching [at] origamiusa.org.

Once your teaching form is entered, the following fields will be shown on the class preview web page: Teacher Name, Class Name, Description, Level, Special Requirements (if any), and Image (the photo, if you uploaded one).

See the class preview pages here:

  • PCOC class preview pages are now closed.
