Description

Origami in the Garden, an exhibition of monumental outdoor sculpture created by American artist Kevin Box, will be displayed in multiple locations across Naples from December 3, 2016 through April 23, 2017. Naples Botanical Garden, The Baker Museum on the Artis-Naples campus, and Lowdermilk Park on the Gulf of Mexico will each exhibit various pieces of the playful works by the internationally known sculptor and origami creator.

Sculptor Box pioneered an innovative method of capturing origami’s delicate detail and rendering it with museum-quality metals into large-scale works of art. Each sculpture in the Origami in the Garden collection began with a single piece of paper. Over 50 pieces of sculpture will be displayed between the three locations. In addition to large-scale installations, the exhibition includes gallery works, Box’s own compositions and collaborative works with world-renowned origami artists Robert J. Lang, Te Jui Fu, Micheal G. LaFosse and Richard L. Alexander.

Workshops, lectures, and a documentary film screening are also part of the exhibition, which is supported in part by funding from the Collier County Tourist Development Council.
