What happens when origami is applied to large scale objects- when it becomes architectural? What about the use of non-paper materials? In this talk new directions of folding will be reviewed including; architecture, furniture, and fashion. The use of different materials will be explored. An approach to origami as a means of finding new forms/spaces including experiments with large-scale objects that can be applied to spatial objects with materials from plastic to expanded metal will be discussed. These objects are intended for practical uses, as living and working spaces. The talk will also review some mathematical insights which may inspire ways of making abstract forms.
