OrigamiUSA is a non-profit Arts and Education organization housed in the American Museum of Natural History (AMNH) located on the Upper West Side of New York City. We are looking for a full-time Administrator / Bookkeeper for a 3-year renewable contract. OrigamiUSA is a membership organization with a very small office and two employees (you and the Executive Director). We are looking for someone who can be flexible and supportive of our leadership and the mission of OrigamiUSA to spread the joy of paperfolding. Interest in origami and/or visual arts is strongly preferred.

The job includes:

  • Bookkeeping and basic accounting work.

  • Accounts Payable / Receivable: Making invoice payments and tracking income (including donations).

  • Fulfillment of member requests and maintenance of our membership database using the CRM on our website.

  • Email communications with members, vendors, and others seeking information about origami.

  • Coordination with the managers of our departments (events, online store, publications, website) and the volunteers who serve on our committees.

  • Coordination with AMNH departments as needed.

  • Prepare logistics for our annual Convention in New York City. Attendance at the Convention in the summer is required (in 2025, July 17-22).

  • General office duties.

Requirements for this position:

  • Experience with a bookkeeping package required. We use Sage 50, but experience with other packages (e.g., Quickbooks, etc.) is fine.

  • Understanding of the use of General Ledger accounts is required.

  • Excellent computer skills: professional experience with MS Word and Excel are required.

  • Experience with a CRM (Customer Relationship Management) system. We use CiviCRM, but experience with other packages (e.g., SalesForce, etc.) is fine.

  • Professional oral and written communication skills.

  • Ability to lift and move materials in the storage area as needed.

  • A pro-active attitude to work well with a diverse group of volunteers, board members, public, and other staff departments.

Wage: Starting $20-25/hour

Hours: 35 hours per week, flexible schedule
