Bernice Smith was devoted to Origami USA. She taught every year at the Origami Tree and at library and school events throughout Westchester.
Bernice Smith attended Walton High School and Hunter College, earning a Masters Degree In Education. She taught Special Education in New York City public schools until retirement. In 2014 Bernice was inducted into the Westchester Senior Citizens Hall of Fame for "improving the quality of life in her community," but her passion was volunteering at Origami USA. She loved teaching at the Christmas Tree, at libraries and schools. She was married to Philip H. Smith, M.D.. They had two two children, April and Ronald L. Smith, both writers.
