Brooklyn, NY - The world premiere of the documentary "Between The Folds" will take place on Friday, September 19 at 7:00pm at the Temecula International Film Festival . A second screening of the film is scheduled for Sunday, September 21 at 12:00pm. A Q&A will follow both screenings, and Dr. Robert J. Lang will be present for the screening on Friday, September 19.
"Between The Folds" explores the artistic and scientific creativity of ten fine artists and intrepid scientists who have forged unconventional lives as modern-day paperfolders. Those featured include notable scientists Dr. Erik Demaine and Dr. Robert J. Lang; as well as internationally renowned artists Akira Yoshizawa, Michael LaFosse, Eric Joisel, Paul Jackson, Chris Palmer and Vincent Floderer; and educators Tom Hull and Miri Golan.
The film engages these exceptional minds as they converge on the unlikely medium of origami and demonstrate the innumerable ways creativity and expression come to bear as we struggle to understand and honor the world around us - as individuals, artists, scientists, collaborators, preservers, and simply curious beings.
The film has also been named an official selection of the upcoming Savannah Film Festival and the New Hampshire Film Festival . In August, it screened at the Rhode Island International Film Festival with two sneak-preview engagements.
