This model is folded from 24 sheets of half-squares, i.e., rectangles 2x1 (alternatively 12 squares cut in halves), at least 6-8" on the longer side. I recommend paper with good tension, for instance Tant or StarDream, but any heavy paper (100-120 gsm) is good. If possible duo color (different colors on front and back side) will produce a nice color change. The diameter of the final model will be slightly smaller than the long side of a starting sheet (approximately 17/18 or 94%).
Tools that would be helpful for this model are:
- a paper cutter - to cut squares into halves
- scissors or a ruler with a sharp edge (scissors work better)
- a chopstick (one) with a conical, smooth tip
- wooden skewer sticks (two) with a conical, smooth tip
