Halloween
Scary, scary night. Keep those pesky trick-or-treaters at bay with this collection of Halloween models. Bernice will teach the classic witch-on-a-broomstick, an elegant owl on a tree, a bat, a lantern and more if time permits. No need to be afraid of a few reverse folds; Bernice will be there, even if she doesn’t hold your hand.
Modular Snake
Yikesssssss! It’s coiled and ready to strike. This modular snake requires 40-50 units and can swivel at each unit. There will be enough time to master the unit and the assembly method. The units are easy to fold but the assembly can be challenging. Then it’s up to you how long or short to make your snake. You will writhe with glee (or horror) as you watch your snake grow. Googly eyes optional.
Money-gami
“We’re in the money, the sky is sunny.” Indeed it is, when Gay teaches models from her new book Money-Gami, including the Bog-Foot Leaping Frog and Shadowbox Frame. The models can be folded from money or from origami papers and both will be used in class. Please bring several new dollar bills to class.
New Carmen Sprung Models
It’s time to let it shine. If you enjoyed the spectacular stars in Carmen Sprung’s book 21 Stern, then get ready to be dazzled with this assortment of new and not-quite-published stars. Let Kay help you navigate the skies with these lovely modular stars.
Family Fun - Favorite Models
Wendy will teach an assortment of her favorite models starting with a clever frog puppet! This class is a great opportunity for families to explore the magic of origami together. No experience is necessary. For children ages 8 and up.
Swedish Star
Reach for the stars! Everyone should learn this classic paper star. Variously known as the Moravian Star or Swedish Star, it is made out of long strips of paper, ribbon or even reeds. Sandy will provide paper strips and teach you how to fold/weave your way to heavenly bliss. The stars can also be woven together to form rings. Woven only on one side, they can be used on packages as decorations.
Models from a Pentagon
Don’t be a square. It’s all about pentagons, pentagons, pentagons! What a wonderful shape for single sheet origami. Kathy has gathered an impressive collection of stars, bowls and flowers made out of pentagons. Of course you will start by learning how to cut that perfect pentagon (and Kathy is an expert). Then it’s onto the Saar Star and Sakura Star and many others as time permits.
Action Fish
Did you know that fish not only swim but can sing and talk? That’s right. Let Mark show you the hidden talents of fish as he teaches a school of action fish which swim, sing and talk. There may even be time for him to teach a 2-piece fish puppet. Get ready to plunge into this underwater world of fun.
Yamaguchi's Dolls
Get your glam on! Origami paper dolls are much more fun than the paper cut-outs of your childhood. Making these dolls IS the fun. Each doll is made of six pieces plus hair, which are glued together. Once you learn the basics of the doll, you can choose outfits, hairstyles, shoes and accessories. One outfit will be taught with more as time allows. Now you can raid your origami closet to find the perfect colors and patterns to mix and match.
