Origami to the Max: pixel units

This will be the second class in a recurring class on folding pixel units (which were invented by Max Hulme).

We'll review folding pixel units (including some updates/improvements I came up with over last class), and we'll begin folding a box with a lid. Optional: come prepared with 11 x 15 cm rectangles (this will be the standard and default size). The rectangle size for the lid will be 8 x 11 cm. You'll need 28 units (11 X 15) for the base, and 33 units (8 x 11) for the lid.

Having pencil, paper, and a calculator (or a Haskell ghci interactive window) will be helpful as we'll do some algebra and discuss the mathematics of how to scale boxes for different sizes/shapes; but the mathematics will be given for those that aren't interested in learning how to compute them.

We'll also look ahead to folding 3D models like animals, purses, etc. and the idioms/tricks you'll need to fold those.

Time zone note: I'm thinking of offering alternative meetings for other time zones; but it's so problematic that I'm inclined towards putting the onus of such planning on other time zones by suggesting that if my proposed time doesn't work for your group, invite me to speak to your group at a time that is convenient for your group (and I'll see what I can do).

Recording: to the best of my knowledge Origami USA zoom meetings do not allow recording.
