The Jewelry Workshop provides an opportunity for participants to experiment with a variety of materials and techniques for making fabulous, one-of-a- kind earrings, bracelets, necklaces, and pins. We will share ideas for making paper more durable, choosing the best tools, adding decorations like beads and appliqués, and selecting suitable findings. Purists may simply fold and mount their models, but those who wish to may cut, glue, color, and draw. Some models will be on display, but we will not all make the same pieces. Models may be informally taught if time allows. Practice miniaturizing your favorite models before class and bring some models with you to work on if you like. Also think about special paper that would complement your jewelry. Some small kami and chiyogami will be provided, but you might prefer to use your own patterns and textures. Two hours pass quickly, and you may not finish everything you begin, but you can take additional materials at the end of class in order to finish up projects later.
