Family Fun-favorites
Ruth will teach an assortment of her favorite models that are fun and charming. This class is the perfect introduction to paperfolding and is a great opportunity for families to explore the magic of origami together. No experience is necessary. For children ages 8 and up. Adults without children are also welcome!
Recycle Origami Again
Going green doesn’t necessarily mean that you have to use green paper. You can use ANY paper. This is a continuation of Toshiko’s recycle origami series. She will cover the basic ideas of starting and promoting recycle origami and teach some appropriate models including an amazing dachshund out of a chopstick wrapper.
Modular Wreaths and Rings
Once you start making these, it is quite frankly hard to stop! Modular wreaths and rings, some done in the “teabag folding” style are wonderful as ornaments, package toppers or on greeting cards. If you’re looking to use up some of those small Korean papers, this is a great way to go, but all-white looks stunning as well!
Fuss-free Flower Bouquet
♫ The flowers that bloom in the spring, tra la…♫ Gay will teach her Fuss-Free Flower Bouquet/Corsage and a Flowerpot. It’s Fuss-Free because no floral tape or wire is used to create the arrangement. Come grow your garden with Gay! (Note: this class requires a familiarity with folding the bird base).
Penguin Pair
Why spend tens of thousands of dollars on a trip to Antarctica when you can visit with penguins in the warmth of your own home. Learn to fold these cute 3-D penguins, both of which have great color changes. These are definitely two cool models while we deal with global warming.
Rhododendron
The infinite possibilities of origami never cease to astound. This modular flower showcases the versatility of the humble Froebel base. Maureen will introduce you to yet another variation that can be made from this useful base. Students should be comfortable with executing petal folds.
From Shoko with Love
Share a little love with these clever designs by Shoko Aoyagi. Linda will highlight some of the Japanese creator’s most popular models including: Fairy Penguin, Bird with a Heart, Gift Box Greeting Card, Little Red Riding Hood Finger Puppet, Big Bad Wolf Puppet and more as time permits.
Practical Origami
Put your models to good use with these practical models. Jan will teach a variety of boxes, bowls and vases that are not only useful but are incredibly fun to fold as well. Some may have clever locks, some may have satisfying 3-D’ing moves but all will be entertaining!
Elephant
Here’s a straggler that missed the 96 elephants project, but it’s never too late to learn another elephant. Joseph will patiently lead you through a bird base, reverse folds, squashes and open sinks to make this majestic animal. (Folders should be familiar with these kinds of moves). Make a whole parade of paper pachyderms!
