Origami Volunteering

We will discuss why and how to become a volunteer origami teacher. Volunteers bring origami to new audiences and communities. Topics will includes:

--my origami story
--myths about prerequisites for teaching
--how bringing origami to new audiences is different from teaching origami enthusiasts
--teaching origami for well-being, the health benefits of origami
--tips for teaching
--appropriate models to teach
--where to teach and how to get started
--resources for teaching

I teach origami as a form of movement, as a kind of dance class for the hands. The emphasis is on cultivating an appreciation of movement rather than perfection of the model that results from the movement. There are many other successful ways to teach origami as a volunteer.
