In 2001 after the events of 9/11 OrigamiUSA received, unsolicited, over 18,000 Cranes in sympathy of this tragedy. Those Cranes were distributed to fire houses and schools that were affected in the lower Manhattan area.

Now, ten years later OrigamiUSA announces our plans to coordinate with the Tribute WTC Visitor Center to commemorate the 10th anniversary of 9/11. We are asking our members to send Cranes. These will be given out to visitors who come to the Tribute Centers in New York City, Washington DC and Shanksville, Pennsylvania during this anniversary year.

We will accept Cranes until December 1, 2011.

Cranes should be folded from 6" paper of any type and have no added embellishments. Since the Tribute Centers get visitors from around the world we would like you to write on the Crane where it comes from (City, State and/or Country).

Cranes should be sent unopened, wings up, to: OrigamiUSA c/o Phyliss Meth 40-05 166th Street Flushing, NY 11358

Phyliss Meth is the retired manager of The Origami Source and we thank her for offering space to house the Cranes during the collection period.

If you do not know how to fold the Crane you may find the diagram here.

The events of 9/11 were felt across the country. Let us show the world members of OrigamiUSA across the country and around the world want Peace with Paper. Send us your cranes to promote this message. Thank you. If you have any questions, please contact us at wtc-cranes [at] origamiusa.org.
