They’re so cuuute!!! Here are three adorable little animals created by Alexander Oliveros Avila that are sure to charm the most curmudgeonly heart. They are all 3D, with boxy bodies and slightly cartoon-y faces. Marcio will teach a piglet, a puppy and a bull. Put one on your desk and you’ll have a smile on your face all day long.
Mette Modular Models

Explore the prolific work of Mette Pederson in this class. Maria will teach an array of models from the “Mette Units” series of books. Students will experiment with different sizes and patterns of paper as they assemble two decorative rings (which can be used as a brooch), a modular spiral, a two-colored pinwheel box, and more as time permits.
Kusudama

Kusudamas (flower or medicine balls) are enchanting modulars that are pleasing to fold and display. Delrosa will teach two different models: “Chrysanthemums” and “Covered Bows,” both by Tomoko Fuse. Each kusudama is composed of six units. As time permits, units can be folded to make a 10 or 30 piece model. Students need to know squash and petals folds and be comfortable working with small rectangular pieces of paper. Limited to 8 students.
Origami Puttanesca

Do you love simple origami that looks like a lot of work went into it? Well here is the class for you. Shri will teach a cute greeting card by Akiko Yamanashi in the shape of a shell and a milk carton box which says “got origami?” by Makoto Yamaguchi. You’ll be set for gift-giving.

Bob & Eunice Stack
Get into the swing of spring with this fun class. Bob and Eunice will teach a flower pot and an easy modular flower (with pipe-cleaner stem) which can have many variations. They will provide diagrams in the class and show you how to arrange them artistically. A $1 materials fee will be collected in class.

John will teach some of his original models, including his Asian Elephant and Adirondack Moose, and if time permits, his Baluchitherium (visit the Museums’ dinosaur halls to look for one!) that will be featured in his forthcoming book. These megafauna (large mammals) are stylized but realistic with emphasis on posture. The moose features large detailed antlers and head, and stands well. The elephant has a poseable trunk and color-reversed tusks.
New Models from Italy

Origami Book

This is not just any old book; this is Aldo’s famous Folio Book! It’s an ingenious modular that has 14 pages with pockets, fancy covers, and spine. A decorative band will allow you to keep all your treasures and intimate thoughts safe and secret. Of course, Aldo will have a spectacular supply of paper for you to customize your book.
Wall Pockets

Make origami wall pockets for the spring flowers that will soon be blooming. John will teach a Wall Bud Vase and a Wall Basket with some flowers to go in them (more as time permits). This class will use all the origami four-letter words – cuts, glue and tape – to assemble the final product. A $3 materials fee will be collected in class.
Origami Ikebana

Let the artist in you emerge as you learn ikebana or Japanese flower arranging. Sumako will teach the traditional iris and show you how to wire it with leaves and arrange a bunch of them in a vase. She will discuss the basics of ikebana, and the rest is up to your imagination! A $3 materials fee will be collected in class.
