It’s officially time to get ready for the OrigamiUSA 2026 Convention. OrigamiUSA is excited to welcome you to visit New York City to enjoy three days packed full of origami classes, shopping, and folding with fellow folders from around the world from Thursday, July 23–Sunday, July 26, 2026.

Schedule Changes

This year we will have a different schedule. We will begin with registration on Thursday afternoon, classes will be all day Friday, Saturday and Sunday with both shopping and the exhibition open all three days. There will be a group folding activity on Thursday evening and our wonderful dinner at Carmine’s Restaurant will be on Sunday night and tons of folding fun in between. Please plan accordingly!

Hotel is Open for Booking

We will be hosting the convention at the Sheraton New York Times Square hotel and have opened a hotel block for convention guests. The hotel rate is $239 per night for up to four people. Make your reservation now.

Special Guests

Convention 2026 will feature three special guests: Himanshu Agrawal, John Szinger, and Jannie van Schuylenburg. Registration will open on June 1, 2026.

Himanshu Agrawal

Himanshu Agrawal is an Origami enthusiast from India. He likes to fold animals and birds, mostly, and has been passionate about sharing Origami with as many people as possible. Himanshu has been practicing origami since 1989 and has made several large origami installations. His origami sculptures have been displayed at art shows around the world. Besides origami, he is a professional voiceover artist.

John Szinger

John Szinger in an internationally recognized origami artist. His work explores a diverse range of subjects, including animals, insects, flowers, objects such as vehicles, airplanes and spaceships, and geometric sculptures. His geometric work features a unique approach to tessellations as well as as advanced single-sheet polyhedra. With animals and other representational subjects John seeks a balance of detail and simplicity and often favors a volumetric, sculptural approach. Mr. Szinger’s work has been widely exhibited. He is the author of several origami books and and contributor to numerous others.

John lives in the greater New York City area. In addition to being origami artist he is also a musician and software engineer.

Jannie van Schuylenburg

Jannie van Schuylenburg is a renowned origami artist from the Netherlands. At the age of six, she began folding with her aunt and that's how her love for paper and origami was born. She enjoys all kinds of crafts, but origami is her "first love." In 1994, Jannie became an official teacher for the Origami Society Netherlands (OSN). In 2020, during the pandemic, she began to teach on Zoom. Jannie has been a special guest at many conventions around the world. Jannie delights in creating her own designs, working both on personal inspiration and commissioned pieces. Her books have been published in the Netherlands, Germany, and England. Inspired by her father's background as a skipper, she authored two books devoted entirely to boats. She also loves boxes, kusudamas, flowers, and practical models. Her latest is book is Let's Fold... and Be Happy. She is currently developing a new book showcasing her distinctive star-shaped models. Jannie is married to Hans and is the proud mother of three children and grandmother to seven grandchildren.
