OrigamiUSA is pleased to provide detailed information about the upcoming Centerfold Convention being organized by the regional group CAPS (Capital Area Paper Shapers) in Columbus, Ohio. This is not an OrigamiUSA event, but many of our members will be attending. See you there!
Note from the Organizer
Hello all!
Registration is now open for Centerfold 2011, and the convention has it's own web site, separate from ohiopaperfolders.com.
Detailed information is available at http://www.centerfoldconvention.com/ , but here is a quick overview:
We have moved the convention up one week at the request of many attendees. This year the dates are Aug 12-14th 2011
Guests
Guests of honor are:
Paul Jackson, Miri Golan and Won Park.
Exhibit!
This year there will be an exhibit, so bring your models! The exhibit space will be in the Columbus room (last year's "great room").
Classes
Once again classes will be "open", with no ticketing. We will take steps to deal with the issues we had in a few of the larger classes last year - the main changes will be:
- Better communications with attendees before and during the convention.
- Assistants for the teachers in larger classes
- Better communications with attendees before and during the convention.
- A sound system for larger classes
- Better communications with attendees before and during the convention.
- More class rooms!
- Better communications with attendees before and during the convention.
Special classes with specific reserved seating will include intro and advanced paper marbling, suminagashi and perhaps one or two others. Steve Pittelkow will once again teach marbling, with multiple classes for intoduction to marbling and advanced marbling, with classes on Friday, Saturday and Sunday. The marbling classes will be in a much larger room this year, but be limited to the same number of people per class - so not so crowded.
There will be activities on Friday, but mainly paper marbling and beginner level origami classes, so no worries if you plan to arrive Friday evening.
The great room will be about 50% larger than last year, and the room we used for the great room will house the exhibit and additional tables set aside as "you schedule it" space, where anyone who wants to teach a model away from the noise of the great room can schedule time.
Costs/general rules
If you have someone who will attend with you for medical assistance there is no charge for their attendance.
All minor children(of non-driving age) must be accompanied by an adult. Non-participating adults who attend with their children will be charged a fee of $40.
The registration fee does not include accommodations at the hotel. (Information below)
