This class will introduce the Miura-ori tessellation and discuss its applications in manufacturing novel materials. Students will learn to fold the Miura-ori tessellation in preparation for a presentation on how origami can be used to develop carbon-based materials with advantageous material properties. These carbon-based origami structures have possible applications in manufacturing materials for sectors such as construction, automotive, aerospace, and more!
