This class derived from my desire to create and fold a really nice origami world globe that could sit on my desk. I start with a brief talk about how and why I chose to use both a particular polyhedral map, B.J.S.Cahill's Butterfly Map of 1909, and a particular origami model, Miyuki Kawamura's Icosahedron of 2001, as the best choice for this model. Next, I will lead you through the folding and assembly of your own personal model. Although it is not the most demanding model to fold, it does require a little bit of endurance to assemble it and no qualms about using double-sided tape.
