I learned this great rose after hours at PCOC in 2003. You can fold it with kami, tant, wrapping paper, or just about anything, with minimal shaping or curling the edges. It always looks good. It requires an 8 by 8 grid. The challenge that makes this model high intermediate is that you have to be very precise about locating the 8 creases that make the twist work and then pushing the rose into its 3D shape and reversing the bottom petals. The locking creases are just reverse folds but they are a bit hard to do since they’re inside the model. Toshikazu Kawasaki recognized it as a variation on his rose, creator unknown.
