Manhattan College has limited dining options within a short walk from campus. For that reason, we strongly recommend that you reserve meals at their dining facility, Locke's Loft in Thomas Hall.
If you are staying overnight, three meals are included in your accommodation fee. If you are not staying, you can register for meals when you register for Convention. You cannot add meals on site, please register in advance. This is a Manhattan College requirement, and they will not accept cash or credit card at the door.
Each meal at Locke's Loft is an all-you-can-eat buffet with multiple stations serving a variety of choices (including gluten-free and vegan options). The food is surprisingly appetizing and fresh for a college campus. Here is a sample summer menu.
Prices for meals at Locke's Loft are:
- Breakfast: $8
- Lunch: $12
- Dinner: $16
Hours for Locke's Loft are:
- Breakfast: 7am – 10am
- Lunch: 11am – 2pm
- Dinner: 5pm – 8:00pm (Friday and Saturday until 9:30pm)
We will have coffee, decaf and tea available in the Hospitality area before classes. There is a Starbucks in the lowest level of Kelly Commons that is open from 10am – 7pm.
On Monday night we have a "We've Survived" Banquet Dinner. It is a wonderful opportunity to meet your favorite origami creators and authors, and your new and old friends, in an intimate and relaxed atmosphere. Dinner will include tossed garden salad, broccoli, buttered noodles, chicken francese, Italian sausage & peppers, eggplant parmesan, assorted cakes, and beverages (soda, water, coffee, tea, decaf). The total cost is $58 per person (you can sign up on your registration form). There will be a cash bar to purchase beer or wine during the dinner. If you do not join us at the Monday Banquet, you can still purchase dinner at Locke's Loft.
The Locke's Loft dinner is included in your accommodations for each night. If you are staying overnight Monday and wish to join us at the Monday night banquet, we'd be glad to refund the Locke's Loft dinner cost for that night. Just order the banquet with your registration, and email us at convention-registration [at] origamiusa.org to process the refund.
There is a larger selection of restaurants within a short bus ride or long walk, but we do not recommend that for time critical meals (like lunch between classes).
