Origami Groups and Societies

Are you a lone folder, wondering if there are any other people who share your magnificent obsession with origami? Are you moving to a new area and wondering if you can get together with other folders? You may not be as alone as you think! There are folding groups in cities all over the country—indeed, all over the world!—and origami people are famous for their friendliness and willingness to share tips, techniques, and ideas for folding!

So, if you'd like to see if there's a folding group nearby, you can check out our list of Community Origami Groups and Societies by using the links below. You'll find locations, contact information, and dates and places where they hold their meetings. Note that all of the lists can be sorted by any column—click on the arrows in the column titles. If you spot anything that needs updating, please let our Groups Editor know via email at community-groups [at] origamiusa.org.

Partner Societies

OrigamiUSA partners with other Societies around the world to exchange publications and foster good will. Partner Societies receive the following:

  • a listing on our website as a Society
  • (optional) physical mailings of The Paper while a Partner Society

We request that Partner Societies

  • maintain contact information for a contact person within their group
  • provide or confirm updated information once per year
  • provide us with a mailed copy of your organization-produced periodical

If you would like your group to become a Partner Society, please

  • create a listing for your group (see below), and
  • send an email to partner-societies [at] origamiusa.org requesting Partner Society status, confirming your group's eligibility, and letting us know if you would like a physical copy of The Paper sent to the group.

A member of the Community Origami Groups committee will contact you to confirm receipt and follow up.

Add Your Group to our List

If you would like to have your Community Origami Group or Society listed, you can create your own listing.

To create an Origami Group listing, please sign in to your website account and come back to this page. If you don't have an account, you can register for one here.

You can update your listing at any time (or remove it, if the group no longer meets). Once a year, you will receive a reminder notification to check and update your listing. In order to keep our listings as current and accurate as possible, we will unpublish listings that are not annually updated. If your group is not listed, please check with your group leader or send an email to community-groups [at] origamiusa.org.

Members planning to form a group may refer to the Community Origami Groups Handbook (below) for ideas.

Members looking for help creating or maintaining a group might also consider joining the OrigamiUSA members' mailing list; you can also likely find other members in your area to kick things off.
