Description

In this lecture I will discuss some surprising aspects of the aspect ratio of U.S Letter Paper, and ways that we can use these coincidences to fold various geometric shapes. I will also teach a quick model (the Star Crown) that relies on one of these ratios.

Supplies

Students should have on hand 5 or more sheets of U.S. letter paper (8.5" x 11"). If you are outside the U.S. and only have A4 paper, I will demonstrate a quick method of converting A4 to US letter proportions.

The Star Crown is diagrammed in "The Paper" issue 136.
