OrigamiUSA and the OMGNYC (Origami Meetup Group in New York City) are co-sponsoring the Oversized Folding Competition at OrigamiUSA Convention 2016!
Have you ever imagined what it would be like to fold a life sized elephant or an oversized geometric modular or flower? This is your chance to try it out. Even if you don't want to participate, it is fascinating to watch!
The number of teams is limited to 30 so sign-up early! The sign-up sheet will be available at the Information Desk in the Hospitality Area beginning Friday evening and all day on Saturday (until the list is full). You will not be able to sign-up on Sunday. If you don't have a teammate and you would like to participate, we will try to match you up with someone who is also interested.
The event will take place on Sunday Evening.
Here is the planned schedule:
- 8:00 – Teams get their paper from a location to be announced
- 8:15 – 9:00 Folding, folding, folding (you have 45 minutes to complete your model)

If you will be folding a modular, please contact Sok Song at sok [at] creased.com to let him know your requirements. Sok is also looking for a few volunteers to help with cutting paper on Friday night. Please let him know if you are available.
Entries will be judged on originality, size, and folding skills and there will be lots of fun prizes for various levels of folding as well. New folders are encouraged to try and fold simple models, there will be prizes for multiple categories. Remember simple is always best when folding large.
