Do I need to bring paper to the conference?
6-inch kami will be provided when you check-in at registration desk. If a class you are registered for requires paper other than 6” kami, it will be provided to the class. You can also purchase paper from Paper Tree, which will be the paper and book vendor on site.
Can I change a class that I have requested and/or been assigned?
Yes. During the class request period, after logging in, go to My Classes to make changes. After classes have been assigned, you can use Online Self-Serve Ticketing to add and drop classes as long as the class is not sold out. During the conference, before the class session starts, you can go to the Ticketing table to request a class change. You can also email pcoc-ticketing [at] origamiusa.org "

How can I get to/from the conference venue or nearest airport?
The Sacramento International Airport (SMF) is the closest airport. The conference is held at the Sheraton Grand Sacramento Hotel. The hotel does not have a shuttle to/from the airport. More details on travel are here.
What are the parking arrangements?
The Sheraton Grand has valet parking available for $45 per night. We have a $5 per night discount from the hotel. There is also overnight parking available at the nearby city-run Memorial Garage.
Are there group discounts available if we have more than one person who wants to register for the conference?
Unfortunately, no.
Are there any activities before the conference?
No, there are no activities before conference, although there are many activities within a short drive of Sacramento, such as the wine country of Napa and Sonoma counties.
Can my spouse/children/friend attend too?
Yes. Each person attending must register for the conference. Multiple people can register via the main registration page from one person's OrigamiUSA website account, or they can create their own OrigamiUSA website account and register from there. The attendance choices are on the main registration page.

Does OrigamiUSA have social media for this conference?
Will my photo be used in social media posts by OrigamiUSA?
Perhaps. We have several people taking photographs and video at PCOC. Their work may be used in future videos and films about origami or appear on origami-related websites and publications. If you prefer not to be recorded, please let the photographer know.
What are my transportation options? Uber, Lyft availbility? local bus?
The Sheraton Grand does not have a shuttle service between hotel and airport but the downtown area is well served by ridesharing services. Our travel page has more information.
How can I volunteer at the conference?
You can indicate your interest in volunteering on your registration form; volunteer opportunities and signups are here. Volunteering at a convention is a wonderful opportunity to be a part of something exciting and meaningful! It’s a chance to meet new people, learn from experts, and contribute to an event that brings people together. Whether you’re helping with registration, assisting speakers, or guiding attendees, your efforts make the event run smoothly and create a welcoming environment for everyone. Plus, you’ll gain valuable experience, make new friends, and feel the satisfaction of giving back to a community you care about. Volunteering is not only rewarding but also a great way to be involved in the heart of the action.
Are there any age restrictions for taking classes?
There are no age restrictions for taking classes. However, please keep in mind that the classes last between 45 and 90 minutes, so young folders should be mature enough to focus for that amount of time. I forgot what classes I signed up for! How can I find out what classes I signed up for, what time they are, and/or where they will be?
You'll recieve a printout of classes you are assigned to when you pick up your registration materials at PCOC. For any class changes made after that (or if you don't have your printout handy), please log in and go to My Classes.
Do I need to be with or can I accompany my child in classes?
We welcome students of all ages in our classes! However, due to limited space in the classrooms, we reserve seats for those who are assigned to the class. If you'd like to be involved, we encourage you to register for classes alongside your child. If your child has special needs or you have any concerns, please feel free to email patty.grodner [at] origamiusa.org, and we'd be happy to assist you. We also encourage you to volunteer while your child is in class. It is a fun way to pass the time and help the convention run smoothly.
Are the meals included? What food will be served at the event?
There are two meals you can register for—the Friday Reception and the Saturday banquet. (Both are included in the PCOC Value Package registration.) Breakfast, lunches, and other meals are on your own. There are several nice options for meals near the hotel.
Can my Guardians attend the Friday Reception or Saturday Banquet?
The guardian will need to register as a Guardian (or the PCOC Value Package or Day Passes) and sign up for the reception and banquet on their registration form. Information regarding guardians is here.
Is any portion of the conference held online?
No, no events or classes will be held online.
Will there be a daily schedule with times posted somewhere at the conference?
There is a daily schedule on the website. It is also printed on the back of your name tag. You can also find your personalized schedule (including your teaching, volunteering, and classes) at My Schedule.
What is the dress code at these events?
The dress is casual. We suggest to dress in layers due to variability in hotel air conditioning or changes in weather.
Are hotel accommodations included in the registration fee?
Hotel accommodation are not included in the registration fee. However, we have negotiated a block of rooms with these special rates. Attendees can also call 800-325-3535 and use group code PCR to make a hotel reservation.
Can I exhibit models at the conference?
Everyone is welcome to exhibit their artwork at this year's PCOC details exhbition page. In order to have space set aside for you, you must either (a) register for PCOC or (b) send your artwork with a registered attendee. More details on the Exhibition are here.
How do I request special meals? I have special accessibility needs/dietary requirements; can you accommodate me?

Are there classroom accommodations for those with special needs?
Some. Please email Patty Grodner at patty.grodner [at] origamiusa.org for any special accomodation you need in classrooms.
Can I bring special equipment or tools?
If needed, but note that we will provide a box for your origami models. You could bring your own folding bone, tweezers, or tape if desired. If you are arriving by air, please refer to the TSA "What can I bring?" web page for guidance on kraft knives and glues.
Will I be able to buy paper at the conference?
Yes, you can purchase origami books and paper from Paper Tree, our on-site vendor.
What is the discount on pre-orders from Paper Tree?
There's a pre-conference discount to all registered attendees. You will receive a 10% discount for all orders completed at Paper Tree's site. Check out this information.
Will there be water provided at the conference?
There will be water stations in classrooms and throughout conference rooms.
What is the expected weather?
In late October, Sacramento, California has average high temperatures of around 72° F and average low temperatures of around 49° F. The weather continues to cool down as the month progresses.

Is there a list of recommended restaurants in the area within walking distance?
Will there be free wifi at the conference?
There is basic wifi at the classrooms during the conference. Marriott Bonvoy members receive complimentary in-room Internet access. YOu can sign up for Marriott Bonvoy for free as you complete your Sheraton Grand Sacramento Hotel booking.
Are there any activities after the conference?
There is a Monday post-PCOC Tour. Note, though, that it is not included in your PCOC registration; you must sign up for it separately.
What is PVP?
"PVP" is the PCOC Value Package, the all-inclusive registration discount that includes all classes on all days, a book, shirt, the Friday Reception and Saturday Banquet. It's a great bargain!
