Sacramento is one of the easiest destinations to get to on the West Coast, whether you’re traveling by air, train or car. And once you're here, Sacramento's downtown and midtown are laid out in an easy-to-learn grid system with flat, tree-lined streets that make it easy to explore restaurants, public art, and more.
Flying
Most travellers outside California will fly in to The Sacramento International Airport (SMF). SMF serves as the gateway to Northern California and offers more than 175 nonstop flights per day to over 35 destinations. Located just 15 minutes outside of downtown, it’s quick and easy to depart your flight and reach your next destination within the city.
The airport has car rental agencies on site. Alternatively, you could take Yolobus 42A from the airport terminal to the J and 8th stop in Downtown Sacramento, and walk the remaining 4 blocks to the hotel.
Amtrak
Regional travellers may want to explore Amtrak as an option. Those coming from the Bay Area may find this AmTrak Capitol Corridor route map helpful. Sacramento's Amtrak station is located downtown, steps away from numerous hotels. Amtrak’s Sacramento Valley Station is the origin point for SacRT bus lines 30 and 38, which accept transfers.
Driving
Some people may choose to drive to Sacramento. There are a lot of one-way streets, and we strongly recommend that visitors use an app to provide real-time driving directions.
Parking
The Sheraton Grand has Valet Parking available for $45 per night; there is also overnight parking available at the nearby city-run Memorial Garage. It is recommended that you call to place a parking reservation 7 days in advance. For more options, visit the City of Sacramento website to find parking availability around downtown Sacramento - many also offer the option to reserve a parking spot ahead of your arrival.
Getting Around
Being a pedestrian is easy in Downtown Sacramento! Other options include Light Rail (the blue line stops two blocks east of the hotel) and hourly Lime scooter rentals, as well as the usual rideshare apps and taxi services.
