Convention 2024 Classes - Supplies

8 or more of six inch kami from the same color. All students are welcome to trade or exchange paper with each other if necessary.

I will supply all materials.

40 sheets of 3" kami (You can cut the 6" kami in your survival kit.) or 3" foil. (If you prefer smaller paper, prepare 40 or so of the same size sheets). You can choose any color of sheets. Pattern in the photo is just an example.
Scissors or paper cutter to make a joint piece in size.

- (1) 6 inch sheet of black and white kami will be provided. 6 inch will produce a 4 inch high model while a 12 inch sheet will produce an 8 inch model which I think looks best.
- (1) 6 inch or larger sheet of kami to practice a component of this fold.

The model will be folded from a 30 x 30 cm uncut square sheet of paper, with one side's color for the boat (say, brown) and the other side's color for the sail (say, white). Glue can be used to better shape the model.

A bone folder and clip or two would be helpful.

30 sheets of A4 paper

4 pieces of 6 inch kami - same color or 2 colors. Students bring 3 inch kami to class.

At least one 12 inch X 12 inch piece of paper (but no larger than 15 X 15) I would recommend regular origami paper, not foil. I will provide paper for the class.

Supplies will be provided, but students can bring their own business cards, index cards, 8.5” x 11” or magazine covers if they like.

A single square of larger kami is recommended (10"/25cm). With more practice you can use smaller sheets.

3 pieces of Kami which will be cut into 1x2 rectangles.

3.25-3.6 inch squares, preferably kami

The Leaf Star can be folded with kami. Tools like clips and poking implements like skewers and tweezers will be helpful.

3-4 sheets of your own junk mail if you have any

I'll bring big squares of tant paper, one for each student.

Five 6" kami sheets.

8 square sheets per star, 3" or 4". Duo recommended as both sides will show. We will fold one star and learn modified folding sequence for 2 more.

Please bring 9" paper (although 9" kami will be provided).

~20 square papers (any size, preferably around 2-4")

10 inch sheet of paper, or if daring a 6 inch.

I will supply the paper and scissors (for cutting out the hexagon)

Students may find tweezers or a bone folder helpful, but they are not necessary.

I'll bring pre-cut circles for each participant. If we will have time for the square version they will need to bring 6 sheets of 3" kami.

Each student should bring a square sheet of paper with a side length of approximately 30 cm. Glue may be used for shaping purposes.

I will provide paper. 10 squares the same size, kami. Duo is best, even white. The minor color adds to the design on the front and shows a little on the edges on the back.
Patterns are fun – including floral, geometric, kaleidoscope, tie-dye, asymmetrical patterns.
Use 2 colors or 5 colors. OR do all 10 the same.
6 inch paper gives an 8.5 inch model
4 inch paper gives a 6 inch model
3 inch paper gives a 4 inch model

A few sheets of 6 in by 6 in kami

10 inch of 6 inch if preferred. Harmony paper makes a nice design.

A pack of pre-cut equilateral triangles will be provided. While the model can stay together without adhesives, a dab of glue helps in keeping the model together & more sturdy.

Please bring a decently thick paper for this model. For my fold, I used 50cm Lokta but any thick paper over 30cm in size will work fine. I may have some tant paper available if you need paper. You will also need some glue to hold things together in the final fold.

Mizuhiki Cords that will be provided by the teacher for small fee.

Modulars tend to fall apart. I have had wonderful results with a fujimoto tessellation

10" kami, provided. If you would like, you can use a slightly bigger sheet of tissue foil or something thick, it will make shaping easier and will also look better.

6 sheets of 6 in by 6 in kami

I will provide paper not in the paper pack.
Each flower needs only 2 sheets, one for the flower and one for the stem, so two in total.

I need teaching supplies of large Greenx3 and Large Redx3 Kami
Bigger the better :)

10 sheets of 6” Kami paper and a few more sheets for a variation if there’s time.

8-inch harmony would be best, but kami is fine too.

40 or more sheets of 3" kami or foil paper. (a little larger or smaller size is fine, but all sheets have to be the same size.)

*You can't enter this activity without a pen or pencil, and paper!

The model is foldable from regular 6” Kami, but I recommend something about 20-30 cm for a first attempt, and nothing thicker than Kami.

Recommended sheet size: 30 x 30 cm
Recommended sheet color: one side blue or green, the other side white

For the book there will be a minimum of six sheets of paper needed. This will produce a book with one inside page. The sheets need to be all the same size and should be rectangles (squares ok). There will be one sheet for the spine of the book, two sheets for the covers, a number of sheets for the inside pages and one sheet more than for the inside pages, for the connectors.
For the storigami, one 6 inch square and one 8 1/2 x 11 inch sheet.

35cm+ paper, kami is fine, thinner papers are ideal.

Bone folder or other creasing tool recommended. We will use heavy cardstock paper.

A 10" kami square. Slightly thicker paper like Tant is nice, but not required. We will, time permitting, fold the model twice.

- 6in Kami is ok but I would use 12in paper for a model that stands about 9 inches tall. That size makes it a nice figure to place up high. The model can flat fold for transport.

Paper will be provided by the instructor.
