This is an introduction to folding wire mesh. Example models will be abstract and based on simple patterns. The goal is to explore a nontraditional material with properties different from those of paper. Warning: Impossible models may be folded in this class. I'm planning to teach a few examples of models for which wire mesh/cloth is particularly appropriate. The specific models will be based on student interest. I will bring and hand out material samples for use in class. If you've asked yourself "Why paper?", or "How can I make paper stretch?", you might like this class. A sturdy ruler or folding tool may come in handy.
