The Tetrahedron Tree Box is a variation of Hildegards Schächtele created by Carmen Sprung in 2008. You can fold her design via the diagrams available on her website.

Hildegards Schächtele by Carmen Spring inspired the Tree Box. Folded here by Jane Rosemarin.

I was inspired to create my version after attending an online workshop (at the Folding Didactics Convention) led by Carmen on Dec. 2, 2023, where she taught variations of her model, altering the 45-degree angles of the box.

The same day, I created a one-sheet version based on Carmen’s original (as suggested by a workshop attendee) and also a one-sheet version of Francesco Mancini’s Santa variation from 2013.

Francesco Mancini also created a variation of Carmen Sprung’s box. Folded by Jane Rosemarin.

The day after, the Tetrahedron Tree Box, with its easily executed color changes, came along. I posted photos of the model in my Instagram account, @origamichel, on Dec. 21, 2023. Much later, I created the Tetrahedron 3 Trees Box, which has a tree on each of three sides.

On Dec. 22, 2023, I was contacted by Patty Grodner, who said she was in love with the model and wanted to learn it. We asked Kathleen Sheridan if she would host me teaching the tree on Instagram Live: @origamiandyou. The event occurred the next day. Since then, Patty has taught the model at the Chicago convention (COcon) and the OrigamiUSA Convention 2024.

Note that if you look at the bottom of the box, you will see a snowy tree!

The Tetrahedron Tree Box also works in patterned paper. Folded by Jane Rosemarin.
