Endless numbers of people can be folded using the basic design. Created and photographed by Margaret Wong. Diagrams by Chris Alexander See PDF diagrams.

This model was inspired by a great friend and origami teacher, Mark Kennedy.

I realize the name of the model, Bathroom People/Fold and Feed People, needs a bit of explaining.

Every year, on the weekend after the annual OrigamiUSA convention, Mark Kennedy and Arlene Gorchov would host an event at their home in Allentown, Penn. called Fold and Feed.

Convention attendees and the special guests were invited to fold and feed. Mark and Arlene’s hospitality was legendary. Some guests stayed overnight and were treated to Mark’s special French toast in the morning. Those visiting Allentown have probably seen this sign:

lav sign

I made it for Mark Kennedy and Arlene Gorchov after the first gathering I attended. They were so welcoming to me. I asked where the bathroom was. After I opened a few doors, Mark pointed to the correct one. He said that there was also one in the basement and jokingly added that there was one outside, too (behind the bushes).

I sent this origami bathroom sign thank you card to them. The next time I visit Allentown, I was surprised and honored to see that Mark and Arlene had framed the card and actually put it up on the bathroom door.

This is a model made from a preliminary base that can be manipulated in many ways to create endless variations.

The PDF diagrams were created by Chris Alexander. Without his help, this article would not have been possible.

The models are darling! Thanks for sharing Maggie. Your story captures the fun one experienced when attending Mark’s & Arlene’s Fold & Feed after convention. It was a post-convention weekend gathering replete with an abundance of food, nonstop folding and wholesome camaraderie. An all around delightful experience.

Greetings from Florida Maggie! I am thrilled to finally have this diagram. I tried several times to diagram it from the models you made. Never did get it right. Miss seeing you at convention.
