Kamalika. Designed, folded and photographed by Meenakshi Mukerji. See PDF diagrams.

Editor’s note: Meenakshi Mukerji “left us” (her preferred usage) on June 11, 2024. One of her many roles in the world of origami was as a contributing editor to The Fold. Her articles were of the highest quality, with informative text and clear, accurate diagrams, and she coded and uploaded them herself. I will miss not only her creations but her lively spirit.

Kamalika was donated to OrigamiUSA last March as a gift for people who filled out a questionnaire. We were planning to publish the diagrams in the fall, but I have moved up the date in remembrance.

I hope you will fold Kamalika or another of Meenakshi’s beautiful designs. All of her contributions to The Fold can be found here. — Jane Rosemarin

Kamalika is one of the many Sanskrit names for lotus. The design came to mind when I was designing Nymphaea, and the color changing scheme was turning out to be so beautiful.

Kamalika folded from an octagon, a decagon and dodecagon. Designed, folded and photographed by Meenakshi Mukerji.
