The Octagonal Wrap, closed and open. Folded by Jane Rosemarin from letterpress paper by Brookfield (no longer available). See PDF diagrams.

This is the second installment in our series of wraps by Shuzo Fujimoto. I had intended to publish them in order of the number of sides, but since the story of the pentagonal wrap is not finished, the series will proceed randomly.

The Octagonal Wrap contains a — probably unintentional — surprise. There’s a silhouette of a house inside. The model is not difficult to fold, and, more importantly, is not difficult for a non-folder to open and close.

Fujimoto calls these designs “wraps,” but feel free to call them envelopes or letterfolds. A 15 cm square makes an 8 cm octagon. Almost any paper and size will work.
