Star Astra at left, with a variation at right. Folded and photographed by Madhura Gupta. See PDF diagrams.

As this year comes to a close, I present to you Astra — one of my very first modular stars, designed in June 2021.

Made from eight right-angled isosceles triangular units, the model is quick and easy to fold. It also has a variation, a kind of disc with narrow stripes all around. The variation is one of my favorites, and I love how it looks.

To fold this model, I recommend starting with two squares of duo-colored paper with sides of 15 cm. Feel free to play with the paper size, color and pattern. I hope you enjoy folding it and that it spreads some festive cheer.

I wish you love and light, and hope for an amazing year ahead!
