What a remarkably lucid and beautifully written piece this is. As a relatively new folder who believes she will never – at least in this lifetime – even think to attempt folding from a crease pattern, I found this fascinating. It’s a perfect blend of the technical and the personal. Who knows? I might even be inspired to try folding the simpler crease pattern provided at the end. Thanks. Serena

Agree! I occasionally get a question when teaching origami to the public, about CPs. I tell them it's a whole other way to fold and I have no experience with it. This article was informative to someone who just wants a "taste" of what it's about. Just what I needed! I might even look up the subject in ODS someday. Many thanks!
