2013 was the previous “Snake” year in the Chinese calendar. To celebrate, the British Origami Society magazine number 282 (October 2013) published an origami Snake by an unknown creator.
The Year of the Snake 2025, beginning on January 29, promises to bring wisdom, adaptability and a sense of transformation. This is the reason I made a variation to the above-mentioned model. My snake’s body is heavier and fuller, and it is more flexible. These changes give more joy when playing with the model.
I gave the variation the name Snakey.
I found that this model works as an icebreaker for meetings, so I always have a Snakey with me when I attend one.
You can see the snake in action in this YouTube video.
