Notes by Daniel Scher: In honor of the 2026 Year of the Horse, origami artist Jiahui Li, known as Syn∞, has designed a horse and demonstrates its folding sequence in the video below. The horse was inspired by a horse designed by Busi. Li adds, “It’s a simple model. I hope you enjoy folding it and wish you a happy Year of the Horse!”
In the video, Li uses Nicolas Terry’s. Shadow Thai paper to fold the horse. Because of the thickness of the paper, Li applies glue, sometimes off-screen, to keep the paper from spreading. The horse can be folded with plain kami, in which case you won’t need any glue.
