I made this star quite a while ago from nine units, and it didn’t have a strong lock. A few months ago, I revisited it and found a better lock with eight units. I named it Mariela in honor of Mariela Catz (Origami Maniacs), since she helped me to present my first star in The Fold, and she invited me to participate in one of her Instagram Live sessions. This allowed me to become known a bit among the great origami designers.
Soon, I will publish my first book with 23 stars. Josefa Star and Mariela Star are included. You can see more of my designs on Instagram at @maxiortizorigami.
