Attire

The Saturday night banquet has become a fun and festive gathering for folders at convention. PCOC attendees will feast on a delicious buffet enjoying unique centerpieces folded by the local hosting group. It is an occasion you don’t want to miss.

Saturday Night Banquet Attire

This year we encourage dinner guests to participate in a fun activity:

Folds, Creases and Pleats: Saturday Night Banquet Attire

Bring out your best origami attire. Let’s make the Portland PCOC Banquet an origami fashion extravaganza!

We invite you to attend this banquet dinner wearing some kind of origami. This could be a piece of clothing that shows an origami-inspired design or origami print. It could also be an accessory, such as origami earrings, ring, pendant, pin, tie, bowtie, hat, or crown, etc. And, if you’re feeling super motivated, your entire outfit could be origami!

Last Minute Help

In case you don’t have anything ready to wear, there will be diagrammed instruction of wearable origami and paper available at the Information Desk. And don't stress about it: your PCOC T-shirt or another origami T-shirt works just fine, too!

Other Resources

The Origami Resource Center has a wonderful page about origami fashion.

There are several easy origami hats tutorials on YouTube. This hat could be embellished with pins from your Pins Plus Exchange.

Additional Banquet Activities

We will also have some special entertainment at the banquet:

  • Mihara Butterfly
Vicky Mihara-Avery, one of PCOC’s co-founders passed away this year. We will honor her by folding the Mihara Butterfly, designed by Michael LaFosse. Attendees will be able to write memories and messages on their butterflies to give to the Mihara family.
  • Trivia Activity
  • Raffle

We look forward to seeing you all at the banquet!
