Please keep in mind the deadline: Wednesday, July 31.
What kind of diagrams do we want?
- Unpublished (or minimally published) diagrams.
- Diagrams that are thematic of the Pacific Northwest or Portland, Oregon. Here are some possibilities:
- Anything that seems weird and unusual (Bigfoot, for starters)
- Nature related: fir trees, birds (lots of crows, and "put a bird on it"), flowers (roses, cherry blossoms, many others), rainy weather
- Animals: salmon (state fish), beaver (state animal), duck (football mascot), dogs (we love them here)
- All the Oregon state symbols (fruit, gemstone, insect, etc.)
- Other: bridges, food, drinks (coffee, wine, beer), weed, umbrellas, bikes, anything hipster
- AND here's a video overview of Portland, Oregon.
Thematic diagrams will have priority over other entries IF we run out of space while creating the book.
All contributors of accepted diagrams will receive a free PDF copy of the diagram book. You will need to have a website account on the OrigamiUSA website in order to receive the book. (You don't need to be a member of OrigamiUSA; you just need an account on the website, which you can create here if you don't yet have one).
Diagram submission requirements
Please adhere to the following details for preparing your diagram for submission:
- The artwork should be print-ready (300 dpi) for 8-½” x 11” paper
- It should have a white background with preferably a black font and grayscale diagrams (since we're working with only black and white for printing internal pages).
- Please include the name of the model, the designer, and diagrammer on the diagram.
- The bottom 1 cm of the page should have no markings of any sort (it will be covered up in the PDF version).
- It should be a PDF file.
- Convert all fonts to outlines prior to generating your PDF.
- If conversion to outline is not possible, then please be sure to “Embed Fonts” when generating your PDF.
Biography
We request that you submit a paragraph length biography along with your diagram of 750 characters or less. Here’s a character count site to help.
